Job Overview:
As a Labor and Delivery Nurse, you will provide comprehensive care to expectant mothers before, during, and after childbirth. Your role is critical in ensuring the safety and well-being of both mothers and newborns during the labor and delivery process. You will work closely with obstetricians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional maternal and newborn care.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and monitor the condition of pregnant women throughout labor and delivery, including fetal heart rates, contractions, and maternal vital signs.
- Provide support and guidance to laboring patients, assisting with pain management techniques and emotional support.
- Assist with deliveries, including monitoring and managing the delivery process, and providing immediate care to newborns.
- Educate patients and their families on childbirth, postpartum care, and infant care practices.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Respond to emergency situations quickly, providing critical care and coordinating with the medical team as needed.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting labor progress, delivery details, and postpartum recovery.
Requirements:
- Active RN License (Must be valid in the state of practice or compact license)
- 2+ years of experience in labor and delivery or maternity nursing
- BLS and ACLS Certifications (American Heart Association)
- Certification in Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC-OB) or similar preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to provide compassionate care
- COVID-19 Vaccination and current health documentation
- Ability to handle high-stress situations and provide emotional support to patients and families
